In the private sector, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution is a recognition that the customer is at the heart of the business. CRM depends on an up-to-date, accurate knowledge base. In the healthcare sector, while patients expect providers to have accurate and complete information about their health, they are surprised that healthcare is characterised by fragmentation. Professor Denis Protti, Professor of Health Informatics at the University of Victoria, considers the healthcare equivalent of CRM.
