HIMSS EMEA provides international educational eSeminar series to Healthcare IT professionals

BRUSSELS, Belgium (18 September 2007) - HIMSS in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) provides a developing portfolio of professional development opportunities and tools to ensure individual and organisational performance. A primary tool in this portfolio is the autumn/winter eSeminar series; active now, and on demonstration to visitors of World of Health IT event in Vienna, Austria, October 22-25 October.

HIMSS EMEA wants to engage and empower the Health IT community in the EMEA region by offering practical and effective education on a peer-to-peer level that takes into account global developments while being tailored to the needs of national, regional and local communities.

The eSeminars use the latest IT tools to allow interactive educational events featuring distinguished speakers twice a month on topics selected with the help of an education advisory committee.

Each event corresponds to one of six thematic areas that drive the work of the society in EMEA:

During the month of September, the focal point will be on eHealth standards for patient safety. Our next event will be presented by Gerard Freriks, from the Netherlands and Sam Heard from Australia who will speak about ‘Open EHR workshops: a non-proprietary input to and implementation of 13606’. It takes place on Tuesday, 25 September from 15:00-16:00 CET.

These low-cost, high-quality educational events are a unique chance for all healthcare IT professionals to gain in-depth knowledge on latest developments and hot topics in the eHealth sector. Attendees from many different countries are able to interact with both the speaker and each other to make it a truly international experience.

HIMSS EMEA will be demonstrating the eSeminar technology and content to visitors of the ‘HIMSS Central’ exhibition stand during World of Health IT in Vienna.
