US appoints new Health IT coordinator

The Bush Administration has appointed Robert Kolodner, MD as Acting National Coordinator for Health IT. Dr. Kolodner is a vocal advocate for nationwide health information exchange. As Chief Health Information Officer for Veterans’ Health Administration, Dr. Kolodner has worked closely with government and industry colleagues in addressing many of the challenges facing the healthcare IT community.
Dr. Kolodner is also an active HIMSS member and friend of the organisation. HIMSS welcomes his appointment and wishes him all the best in his new role.
